verihealth announces new CEO
verihealth, Inc., a regional leader in specialized ground ambulance services, announces the appointment of Bruce H. Lee in the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
"We are very pleased and excited that Mr. Lee has joined verihealth in this executive leadership role," stated Executive Chairman and founding CEO, Gary Tennyson. "With his indisputable leadership qualities, combined with his extensive expertise in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Mr. Lee will be an invaluable addition to verihealth."
Mr. Lee was most recently the EMS Director of the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, Emergency Medical Services Agency. He was responsible for the management and oversight of a complex EMS and trauma system, as well as many medical disaster preparedness programs. Prior to his position with Santa Clara County, he was the Regional EMS Administrator for the Coastal Valleys EMS Agency (a consortium of jurisdictions that include Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties). He was also director of operations for two large national companies providing ambulance services.
As a senior consultant with Halliburton Corporation/ Brown and Root Services from 1990 to 1993, Mr. Lee completed a number of emergency management consulting assignments with government and private industry clients in the U.S., Middle East and Taiwan. From 1985 to 1990, he was the Director of the Office of Emergency Management for the County of Santa Barbara, California.
Mr. Lee obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health Services Administration from Saint Mary's College and graduated from the Daniel Freeman Hospital School for Paramedics in Los Angeles. He is a past president of the Emergency Medical Services Administrators Association of California (EMSAAC). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Stroke Association, and has served on the American Heart Association Board of Directors. In 2006, he was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to serve as a member on the State of California Commission on Emergency Medical Services, and in 2008, he was elected Chair of the EMS Commission.
In 1990, Mr. Lee received the California Governor's Office Award for Excellence in Emergency Management from Governor Deukmajian. In 2008, he was recognized as EMS Administrator of the Year by the California EMS Authority and received a Meritorious Service Award by the Director.
